Fraternal Order of Eagles Interesting Facts
Who We Are

The Fraternal Order of Eagles is an international non-profit organization uniting fraternally in the spirit of liberty, truth, justice, and equality, to make human life more desirable by lessening its ills and promoting peace, prosperity, gladness and hope.

Our History

The F.O.E. was founded in February, 1898 as "The Order of Good Things." As numbers grew, members selected the Bald Eagle as the official emblem and changed the name to "The Fraternal Order of Eagles." The women's auxiliary traces its roots to 1927.

Our Membership

F.O.E. membership exceeds 850,000, with more than 1,400 local Aeries in the U.S. and Canada. Women's auxiliaries total more than 1,300, with more than 250,000 members. Members are recruited by other members and must be sponsored by two members before the membership process begins.

What we do

For more than a century, the Fraternal Order of Eagles has had a major positive influence on our region, nation, world... And most importantly in our communities.

It was the Eagles who pushed for the founding of Mother's Day, who provided the impetus for Social Security and, who pushed to end job discrimination based on age. The Eagles have provided support for medical centers across the country to build and provide research for medical conditions — we raise millions of dollars every year to combat heart disease and cancer, help handicapped kids, uplift the aged and make life a little brighter for everyone.

The Fraternal Order of Eagles uphold and nourish the values of home, family and community that are so necessary and it seems so often get ignored and trampled in today's society.

The Eagles are hometown builders. We support our police, firefighters, and others who protect and serve. We fund medical research in areas such as spinal cord injuries, kidney disease, diabetes and Alzheimer's. We help raise money for our communities...we are the Eagles and we are "People Helping People."

Our Motto: People Helping People!

Aerie 3973 is located in the East County of San Diego at 9317 Shadowhill Road Santee, CA..  Its Charter encompasses both Santee and El Cajon with membership representing many of the nearby communities.

Our Aerie reaches out to the local communities in much the same way that Aeries all across the USA have done for over a century.  However we pride ourselves in “going that extra mile’.

It is our pleasure to maintain our Aerie facility by ourselves, but then to make it available to other charities in the community for FREE! This facilitates other charities in giving the highest percentage of their contributions directly to their charities.  Plus, it fits well with the Eagle theme that 100% of Charitable Contributions should go directly to the designated Charities and never get spent on salaries or building programs!  Now that is something of which to be proud!
